Campbell Newman Restores Stamp Duty Concession and Scraps Sustainability Declarations
The new LNP State Premier Campbell Newman has proceeded with his promises to cut government red tape for the real estate industry and home owners and scrap the Sustainability Declaration. This document was required to be completed by all owners before selling their home with potential fines up to $2000.00.
The sustainability declaration came into force on January the 1st 2010. The forms were introduced to offer a point of comparison for prospective home buyers and to help them gauge the energy efficiency and sustainability of properties.
The problem was that like many government forms they were over complicated. It was compulsory that the forms were signed by the sellers but it was not compulsory to actually fill out any of the details and because of the complexity many sellers would just leave them blank.
Campbell Newman has also announced that he intends to reinstate the Stamp Duty Concessions for home buyers that the Labor Government scrapped in 2011. That removal of the concession meant that the stamp duty on a $400,000 home jumped from $5250 to $11,825.
Right man for the job.. That greedy little grub Fraser cost me $6,000 last year with his tax.. I would have volunteered to help him clean out his office, afer we licked him to the kerb. Typical wealthy politician, screwing the working class man.
