Gold Coast Mining Jobs Expo 2011
A mining industry job expo will be staged on the Gold Coast on the 19th of October to connect the city’s unemployed with mining and construction companies who want willing workers. The expo will provide career advice, skills assessment and most importantly jobs would be on offer.
With the unemployment rate in the Northern Gold Coast area around 9.2% (in contrast to 7.1% for the whole Gold Coast) the Mining Jobs Expo aims to connect the local area with the mining industry which is facing a skills shortage at the moment.
The Mining Jobs Expo’s will be an essential part of finding the 38,000 construction and operational jobs needed for the state’s resource industry between now and 2015.
The Gold Coast expo is to be held at the Southport Community Centre.
The Work for Queensland job expos will also be staged in Cairns, the Sunshine Coast, the Whitsunday region and the Wide Bay Burnett.
