Tenders Closed for Pimpama Aquatic Centre – $43.4m
The Gold Coast City Council has recently closed tenders for a large Aquatic Centre and has budgeted up to $43.4 million for the project.
Construction is not expected to be finished till 2020 so will not be complete for the Commonwealth Games.
The complex is believed to include a huge array of sporting features such as:-
- Olympic 50m pool
- 25m Pool
- Learn to Swim
- Gym
- Sports fields
- 12 tennis courts
- 6 Netball courts
- Dressing rooms, toilets and storage.
The exact location is yet to be finalised and thus final approval by council has not been given but the tender process will also cover a feasibility investigation, planning, approvals, design and construction.
One initial location is the Heritage Park facility.
