Coomera Gets Boost in Police Numbers
New crime unit boosts Gold Coast police

Thirty-five extra officers will be appointed after criticism of the Queensland Government over a temporary police blitz aimed at stemming a spate of serious crime.
Police Minister Neil Roberts say a quarter of the new positions funded in this year’s state budget will be allocated to the Gold Coast.
“The serious and violent crime squad will be a permanent feature on the Gold Coast with 20 people,” he said.
“In addition to that, there’s been 15 officers allocated to Coomera – the start of a tactical crime squad will be allocated this year.
“There’ll be seven officers and there’ll be seven next year.
“A three-person dog squad based out of Coomera plus some additional extra duties officers in the region as well.”
