New high school announced for Pimpama
THE State Government has this morning announced it will build a new high school on the northern end of the Gold Coast at a cost of more than $50 million.
Education Minister Cameron Dick said the new school at Pimpama would cater for secondary students in the fast-growing region.
“We’ve put aside almost $2 million in this year’s State Budget for planning and design which is expected to begin early in the new financial year, with construction likely to be underway early in the new year,” Mr Dick said.

“Stage two is planned to open for 2015, and by the time stage three is completed in 2017, almost 1000 students will walk through the gates on the first day of school.”
“This secondary school will be a first-class, modern facility with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, inclu ding rainwater tanks, building design to capture breezes and solar hot water.
“There will also be secure bicycle compounds and change areas for students and staff wishing to cycle or walk to and from school.
“The first stage will include a resource centre, administration block, tuckshop and hospitality centre, multi-purpose covered areas and a sports oval.
“It will also feature an applied technology learning hub equipped with hi-tech labs for science, robotics, design and industrial technology, art and fashion.
“All classrooms will be fitted with a wireless network to enable students to access information from anywhere in the school.
