Gold Coast Tradies in Hot Demand
Now that the Gold Coast is so busy with residential, commercial and retail projects, tradies are in high demand. Aside from new builds, the Coast is currently seeing unusually high renovations activity.
But while this is good news for tradies, it is bad news for anyone considering a renovation. With a shortage in apprentices to boot, customers are expected wait weeks to get jobs seen to.
The number of apprentices are down 45 per cent from 7 years ago which is unfortunate with the current opportunities. For builders who have been in the business for deacades and have been using the same people for years, this is a good sign. However, not all builders are so luckey and the situation is proving to be a challenge.
But with the property industry looking to continue growing in the northern corridor, tradies are likely to start trickling in and work in the area.
Gold Coast Bulletin reports:
Coomera MP Michael Crandon confirmed the boom for tradies and said his electorate had a very low unemployment rate.
“This is home to many of those busy tradies, who are also working on new houses here,” he said.
“According to the Queensland Treasury, there will be more than 10 per cent year-on-year growth in the northern corridor between 2016 and 2026. Between 2008 and 2017, we have had 10 new schools built here.
